House prices in the UK climbed to its highest level on record in May, a survey by property website Rightmove showed Monday.
New sellers raised asking prices by 2.1 percent in May from a month earlier to a record GBP 249,841. Compared with May last year, prices were 2.5 percent higher.
Prices have increased for a fifth consecutive month and were 9.1 percent higher year-to-date, the strongest price start to a year since 2004, Rightmove said.
House prices in London also reached a new record high at GBP 509,870 in May.
