Taiwan's current account deficit remained almost unchanged in the first quarter of 2013 from a year earlier, data from the central bank revealed Monday.
The current account ran a surplus of $11.09 billion during the period, compared with $11.06 billion surplus last year. This, however, was lower than $15.93 billion surplus in the fourth quarter of 2012.
In the current account, the goods trade surplus narrowed by $1.25 billion year-on-year to $4.84 billion. The surplus on services increased by $1.40 billion to $2.19 billion. The income account recorded a smaller surplus of $4.69 billion, with a decrease of $0.14 billion from the same period last year.
Current transfer deficit was $0.63 billion, posting a year-on-year decrease of $0.02 billion.
