LA Pot Operation Busted After Burglary Call

Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department have arrested a couple after discovering a large marijuana-growing operation in a home where they were responding to a burglary call.

The Press-Telegram reports that authorities were investigating a report of a possible residential burglary when they spotted someone who matched the description of the burglary suspect sitting nearby in a parked car. Once authorities surrounded the house, the man inside, Tom Kim, 37, came out and surrendered.

When authorities searched the home, they discovered multiple marijuana plants both in the house and in the backyard, along with scales, and marijuana filled jars.

"There was also evidence of manufacturing hashish, concentrated cannabis and packaging for sales. A washing machine in the backyard was located and believed to be used to make hashish from the marijuana plants" said Sgt. Mark Moffett of the Los Angeles County sheriff's Lomita Station. "It appeared the suspects were supplying marijuana to dispensaries, but had no documentation indicating they were operating a legitimate business."

Authorities seized approximately 100 pounds of and $10,000 in cash.
