YouTube Turns 8

Eight years back, in May 2005, a small makeshift technology office was started in a garage, by three early employees of PayPal, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. Living their dreams, the trio started YouTube, which is now the most popular video streaming site. After being acquired by Google in 2006, YouTube's growth has been tremendous during the past seven years.

As a note of thanksgiving, YouTube in its blogspot attributed its success to all of its beloved viewers and subscribers: "..we'd like to thank you for making YouTube the special place that it is. For showing us how video can create connections, transcend borders and make a difference."

Celebrating this extravaganza, the video streaming giant chimed in that more than 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute.

As a gesture of gratitude, the YouTube team in its blog said: "...In short, thanks for making us better in big ways and small ones, too. We can't wait to see what you come up with next."
