Charge Your Phone In 20 Seconds!

An Indian-American teenager has invented a device that can potentially fully charge your mobile phone within 20-30 seconds.

Eighteen-year old Eesha Khare of Saratoga, California won the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award of $50,000 for developing the tiny device that can fit inside cell phone batteries, allowing them to fully charge within 20-30 seconds. The device also has potential applications for car batteries.

Khare has only used the fast charging device, dubbed 'supercapacitor', to power LED light. But she claims that her invention has the potential to charge cellphones, car batteries and other devices in the near future.

The supercapacitor can last for 10,000 charge-recharge cycles, compared with 1,000 cycles for conventional rechargeable batteries, Eesha Khare claims.

With this invention, Khare has been getting offers from multi-national corporations, including Google.
