A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the Hualien county on Taiwan's east coast on Tuesday.
The tremor, with its epicenter at a depth of 13.7 kilometer beneath the sea, was slightly felt in the island nation's capital Taipei, but there has been no report on casualties or property losses, China's Xinhua news agency reported citing the earthquake monitoring center of the country's meteorological department.
A 4.6-magnitude temblor jolted the same area around noon on Tuesday, according to the Beijing-based China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
