Microsoft unveiled Xbox One, the latest version of its video game console, which the company touts as an "all-in-one home entertainment system." The new next-generating gaming console features a new Kinect sensor, a voice control system, live TV and Skype among others.
Microsoft said the third-generation Xbox One will be shipped around the world "later this year." However, the company did not disclose the exact shipping date or its price. The software giant launched the new device at its Redmond, Washington headquarters on Tuesday at an invitation-only event.
The Xbox One features an eight-core CPU with 8GB of RAM, a Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0, HDMI in/out, 500GB hard drive and 802.11 wireless with Wi-Fi Direct. The Xbox also comes with an upgraded Kinect sensor and an all-new game controller.
According to Don Mattrick, Microsoft's president of interactive entertainment business, the Xbox One is an "all-in-one home entertainment system," as it can be used to play games, watch television, movies, sports and chat with friends through Skype as well. Users can use voice controls to switch back and forth between playing games, watching live TV, listening to music, and browsing the Internet.
Xbox One has three operating systems; the Xbox OS, Windows and an another OS that will assist the two OS to connect with each other.
