After few hours of completing the much-hyped acquisition of microblogging platform and social networking website,Tumblr, Yahoo! said it revamped its previously acquired photo sharing site, Flickr. CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer said the team gave Flickr an imperative facelift to make it "awesome again". Not only did the website get redone, but also the Flickr app for Android platforms got renewed following the recently spruced up iOS app.
The refurbished Flickr site sports a clean look, chucking out the extra white spaces and text which were present before. Adding on to this, the photos are now bigger and shared in full resolution without compressing to a lower quality. The photos are also made medium-friendly, as in for different devices and social networking sites. Cutting out the words, the large photos are set in a crisp black background.
Along with this, for the free accounts, the site offers one terabyte for storing photos and videos. The Free account users can upload photos of up to 200MB per photo, upload 1080p HD videos of up to 1GB each. They also get to enjoy video playback of up to 3 minutes.
The Ad Free account users are benefited with all of the above features, plus savoring a no-ad browsing experience for $49.99 per year. The Doublr account users receive 2 Terabytes of photo and video space with all of the free account features for a premium payment of $499.99 per year. One Terabyte could easily hold about 500,000 images!
