Explosion Destroys House In Wisconsin

An Eau Claire County, Wisconsin home exploded over the weekend, and authorities are still investigating the cause. Fortunately the home owners—Brian and Jennifer Pederson—were out of town when the home blew up, reports the Pioneer Press.

Mrs. Pederson told the Press that the pair got a bevy of calls on Sunday and when they returned them, they were surprised by the news:

"We certainly never expected that. I think it will hit me more seeing it in person."

The blast was so strong it blew a 350 pound gun safe right out into the lawn. Darrell Christy, Township Fire Department's chief of operations, told the Press that he's "never seen anything with that much force."

Five houses close to the Pederson's were damaged but no one was hurt, reports local news source WRN. One neighbor said that the blast blew out windows and damaged walls in his home.
Firefighters believe a gas leak may be the culprit.
