Five Buildings at Florida's Rollins College were evacuated on Wednesday morning because of a gas leak. Local television station WKMG reports that the leak started near the Bush Science Center, which is currently under construction.
A spokesperson for Rollins told the Orlando Sentinel that all of the buildings were reopened by noon. Only one of the buildings evacuated, added the rep, had classrooms in it. And just a few students were on campus anyway as the spring semester recently ended.
Buildings evacuated are Carnegie and Crummer halls, Cornell Hall for the Social Sciences (CSS), Knowles Memorial Chapel, Comstock Building, the Annie Russell Theater and the Warren Administration Building. Surrounding roads were also closed to traffic.
Local station CF News 13 reported that construction crews hit a gas main near the Bush Science Center, taking about two hours to repair it.
