One Dead, One Missing In Minnesota Rock Slide

One student is dead and another missing after the ground gave from beneath them while looking for fossils in a Minnesota park.

The incident occurred during a field trip of fourth graders from an elementary school in St Paul. Students were taken to the St. Louis Park, where school's typically bring their students to dig for fossils, startribune.com reports.

The students fell nearly 30 feet into the ground during an unexpected wet hillside of mud, gravel and sand. When rescuers arrived, they had to beat the challenging waist-deep mud to help save the children.

A search dog was later brought in to help find the missing boy. After hours of looking, they suspended the search. Fallen rain has saturated the slope over the past few days, making the conditions dangerous for rescue teams.

The search is expected to continue for the missing child.
