A chain reaction of school busses running into the rear of another, has injured at least 50 people in Indiana.
The incident happened in Syracuse, located near the city of Fort Wayne, when four buses struck one another in a domino effect. Local television station WANE reports, when the first bus stopped to unload a child, the very last bus hit the third bus thus causing a chain reaction.
More than 100 children were on the buses at the time, and about half of them suffered injuries. Students with minor injuries were taken to hospitals on an empty bus, escorted by police.
Three of the four bus drivers were injured; one operator was airlifted to a hospital to undergo surgery.
All four of the bus drivers are under investigation and will undergo drug and alcohol testing. They are working to determine if the crash was caused by a mechanical problem or not.
