Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) reported second quarter adjusted EPS of $0.87 after the bell Wednesday, which topped the consensus estimate of $0.81. The company expects to report third quarter adjusted EPS of $0.84 to $0.87 and between $3.50 and $3.60 for the full year 2013. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.84 and $3.49.
Hewlett-Packard gapped up sharply Thursday and climbed during the first 45 minutes of trade. The stock extended its gains going into the close and finished up by 3.63 at $24.86 on strong volume. Hewlett-Packard broke out past resistance and set a new high for the year.
