French Business Confidence Improves More Than Forecast

French business confidence increased more than expected to 92 in May from 88 in April, survey results showed Friday. It was forecast to rise to 89.

According to the business leaders, personal production outlook held steady at -2 and remains below its long-term average.

Meanwhile, recent changes in output rose markedly to -4 from -17, the Insee said. While export order books decreased to -29, total order books improved to -33 in May.

The general production outlook, which represents business leaders' opinion on French industry as a whole, came in at -47, up from -49 in April.
