Czech Economic Sentiment Improves In May

Czech economic sentiment improved in May after weakening in the previous month, a report from the Czech Statistical Office showed Friday.

The composite indicator, that reflects overall sentiment among both consumers and businesses, rose to -3.6 in May from -5.3 in April. In March, the reading was -2.4.

The consumer confidence index advanced to -19.8 in May from -23.8 in April. At the same time, the business sentiment indicator increased to 0.4 from -0.7 in the previous month.

In industry, the index moved up -9.3 in May from -11 in the preceding month. The indicator for the trade sector advanced to 3.7 from zero.

Meanwhile, confidence among Czech service providers stayed stable during the month. The corresponding sub-index was unchanged at 21.7. In construction, the indicator edged up to -53 from -53.5, data showed.
