Emergency Landing Forces Closure Of Two Runways At London's Heathrow Airport

A British Airways flight, believed to have caught fire in the air, was forced to make an emergency landing at its place of departure, Heathrow Airport in London. Amateur footage of the landing is now circulating the web.

The Airbus A319, which took off for Oslo, Norway, had to turn around to Heathrow, one of the world's busiest airports, shortly after taking off. Two runways were closed when the plane landed and emergency crews hosed down the craft, reports the BBC.

All 75 passengers, according to the Guardian, were evacuated safely on the plane's emergency slides.

The Times reports speculation that the Airbus flew into a flock of birds, causing the fire, and British Airways confirmed to the news source that the theory will be considered in their ongoing investigation.
