Slovak Economic Sentiment Improves In May

Slovakia economic confidence increased in May largely due to an improvement in consumer confidence, survey data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Wednesday.

The economic sentiment index came in at 93.1, up from 92.6 in April.

The consumer confidence indicator increased by 4 points to -26 compared with April, as a result of significantly reduced pessimism. However, it stayed below the long-term average.

At the same time, confidence in industry dropped by 1.7 percentage point and that in services by 7.7 points. Meanwhile, confidence in construction rose marginally by 0.5 percentage point, the index rose by 0.3 percentage point in trade.
