According to Bloomberg reports, Rio Tinto Group (RTPPF.PK, RIO.L, RIO) is pursuing an initial public offering of its diamond unit as the company failed in its attemp to find a buyer for the division. In March 2012, the Group initiated a strategic review of the diamond business, which included exploring options for potential divestment of its diamond interests.
Rio Tinto operates three diamond mines, Argyle in Australia, Diavik in Canada, and Murowa in Zimbabwe, as well as Bunder, an advanced diamonds project in India.
