Hungary's merchandise trade surplus increased from the previous month in March at a faster rate than initially estimated, data released by the Central Statistical Office showed Monday.
Trade with the rest of the world resulted in a surplus of EUR784 million in March, higher than the EUR753.4 million surplus recorded in the preliminary estimates. In February, the balance was a surplus of EUR639.4 million.
Export of goods decreased 2.6 percent on an annual basis to EUR6.89 billion in March, which was in line with the flash estimates. The value of imports fell 5.8 percent year-on-year to EUR6.1 billion as estimated earlier.
Hungary's net trade for the January-March period resulted in a surplus of EUR1.74 billion. The value of exports stayed broadly unchanged at EUR19.91 billion from the three months ended march 2012.
Imports, meanwhile, decreased to EUR18.17 billion in the first quarter from EUR18.23 billion in the same period of last year, data showed.
