Now that the state of Washington has approved the taxation and regulation of marijuana, officials in Seattle are advocating for the state to allow the authorization of private marijuana clubs as well as potentially allowing the drug to be delivered to homes.
Reuters reports that the Seattle city attorney, with the blessing of Seattle's mayor, sent a recommendation to the Washington Liquor Control Board presenting the idea along with hundreds of others that were received before a deadline on Monday that allowed the public to commend on the issued draft rules.
Liquor Control Board spokesman Brian Smith says that the board will not likely take up the issue of private pot clubs or delivery services, because they fall outside its licensing purview, however, he said that cities such as Seattle may be allowed to operate the clubs if they do not sell alcohol.
Due to the high volume of recommendations received by the Liquor Control Board, the release of their new rules and regulations has been pushed back until July 3.
