JPMorgan Chase Announces 1800 Jobs Cut In Mortgage Unit: CNBC

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) announced a nationwide job cuts in its mortgage servicing unit that would eliminate about 1,800 jobs, CNBC reported citing a person familiar with the matter. The report said that the two regions hit hardest by the layoffs: Albion, N.Y., where an entire call center will be closed, and Tampa, Fla.

In February 2013, JPMorgan Chase said that it was planning to cut 4,000 jobs in 2013, as well as reducing expenses by $1 billion. The job cuts would span consumer and mortgage banking businesses, and follows an earlier disclosure by the bank to prune up to 15,000 jobs at its mortgage business.
