The Greek unemployment rate touched a record high in the first quarter, data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.
The jobless rate rose to 27.4 percent in the first quarter from 26 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012.
The unemployment rate for females was 31 percent, considerably higher than the unemployment rate for males, at 24.7 percent. The highest jobless rate was recorded among young people in the age group of 15-24 years, at 60 percent.
The number of employed totaled 3.5 million in the first quarter, while the number of unemployed came in at around 1.3 million.
