Eurozone employment fell notably in the first quarter of 2013, the latest figures published by Eurostat revealed Friday.
The number of employed persons in euro area fell a seasonally adjusted 0.5 percent quarter-on-quarter to 415.1 million in the March quarter. This was faster than a 0.3 percent fall recorded in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, employment fell 1 percent in the euro area.
In EU 27, the number of employed fell 0.2 percent quarter-on-quarter to 221.9 million. This was 0.4 percent lower than a year earlier.
