New York Mother Indicted For Marijuana Operation

A federal grand jury has indicted a mother from a suburb in New York on charges of running a sophisticated marijuana operation.

Reuters reports that on Tuesday, Andrea Sanderlin, 45, from Scarsdale, was indicted after authorities confiscated 2,800 marijuana plants along with dried marijuana carrying an estimated street value of $3 million from a warehouse in Queens.

The warehouse reportedly contained lighting, irrigation, electrical and ventilation systems and was allegedly run by Sanderlin,

"There's really no difference whether you're a suburban mom growing marijuana in a warehouse in Queens, or a cartel member making cocaine in the jungles of Colombia," said agent James Hayes, Jr. of the Department of Homeland Security.

If Sanderlin is convicted, she faces up to $10 million in fines and a minimum ten-year prison sentence.
