Confidence among Belgian households regarding their finances and the general economy improved for the third consecutive month in June, survey data released by the National Bank of Belgium showed Wednesday.
The headline consumer confidence index moved up to -18 in June from -19 in May and -20 in April. The index recorded growth for the third month in a row.
Households' views of the country's economic situation turned less downbeat during the month, with the relevant sub-indicator rising to -12 from -14 in May. They were also less pessimistic about their capacity to save in the coming months. The corresponding indicator increased to -1 from -3 in May.
Meanwhile, consumers' perception of the health of their personal finances turned slightly more negative in June. The financial situations sub-index dropped to -4 from -2 in the previous month.
The measures of confidence regarding the employment situation in the country showed a score of 54, little changed from the May reading of 55, data showed.
