Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc. (RR.L, RYCEY.PK) said Wednesday that it has been selected by Russian airline Transaero to provide Trent 1000 engines, with long-term TotalCare service support, for four Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. In addition, Rolls-Royce has won a $200 million order from the airline to provide TotalCare support for Trent 800 engines that power eight Boeing 777s already in service.
The Trent 1000 has now been preferred by ten of the last 13 operators to have announced engine selections.
In a separate press release, Rolls-Royce said it has won an order from Oman Air, worth $200 million at list prices, to deliver Trent 700 engines to power three Airbus A330 aircraft. The order also includes long-term TotalCare service support.
According to Rolls-Royce, the Trent 700 is the market leading engine for the Airbus A330, and has won 70 per cent of new orders over the last four years. The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330. Rolls-Royce has more than 1,400 Trent 700 engines either in service or on order.
