The state of New Hampshire is ready to become the last New England state to approve the use of medical marijuana.
Reuters reports that on Tuesday, the Senate reached a deal with the House that would allow up to four medical marijuana dispensaries to open as early as 2015.
"Allowing doctors to provide relief to patients through the use of appropriately regulated and dispensed medical marijuana is the compassionate and right policy for the State of New Hampshire," said Governor Maggie Hassan.
The new bill's compromise "addresses the concerns that I have heard and expressed throughout this session, and provides the level of regulation needed for the use of medical marijuana," Hassan added.
The new bill bars the use of medical marijuana for treating post-traumatic stress disorder, and lets only up to five medical marijuana patients to be treated at any one time by a medical provider.
19 states and Washington, D.C. already allow the use of medical marijuana.
