Unemployment rate in the Netherlands increased marginally in May, data from Statistics Netherlands showed Thursday.
The unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent in May from 8.2 percent in April. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of unemployed increased by 9,000 persons from a month earlier to 659,000.
Separately, the statistical office reported that Dutch consumer confidence deteriorated in June compared to May. The confidence index fell by 4 points to -36.
Consumers were more more pessimistic about about the general economic climate. Willingness to buy remained stable.
