Teacher Reprimanded For Duct-Taping Students' Mouths Shut

Margo Fowler, a math teacher from Vancouver, British Colombia, has been reprimanded after three incidents of her duct taping students' mouths shut were reported, according to the CBC.

In all three cases, Fowler doled out the punishment to overly talkative students. The B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch cited Fowler for professional misconduct, a charge that the students have questioned.

"I don't think that she meant it at all in an aggressive manner. It was more of just a joke," one pupil told the CBC.

The Calgary Herald observes that Fowler also got high marks on the website RateMyTeachers.com, where she is four out of five stars based on the easiness, helpfulness and clarity of her teaching practices.

The Board noted that Fowler was not suspended and that it has "no concerns moving forward," reports The Province.
