Thursday, Valeant Pharmaceuticals International (VRX) said it agreed with Meda AB to form joint ventures, or JVs, in Australia, Canada and Mexico to develop, market and commercialize certain current and future products.

The JVs will be majority-owned by Meda and Valeant will own a minority interest.

The JVs will pursue the regulatory filings and manage the commercialization of the products and Valeant will participate in a profit share.

The products, which are initially included in the joint projects, are sublinox and flupertine. There is an option to include additional products in the future. Sublinox is used for treating insomnia and flupertine is used in pain treatment.
