Autodesk, Inc. (ADSK), a software design and service provider, on Wednesday, announced a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Mensch und Maschine Deutschland GmbH, an European supplier of computer-aided design and manufacturing, for an undisclosed amount.
San Rafael, California-based Autodesk said the acquisition, which included ECSCAD product line of Elektro-CAE-Software is expected to expand the reach of Autodesk electrical computer-aided design or CAD solutions to European industry segments that depend on database-driven methods for their designs. ECSCAD, a solution provider of electrical computer-aided design software, is a data base oriented online multi-user concept with its focus mainly on mechanical engineering market.
Robert Kross, senior vice president of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions "The addition of ECS technologies enhances the Autodesk solution for Digital Prototyping and helps a larger audience to create complete digital prototypes that integrate both mechanical and electrical designs."
Autodesk also noted that the acquisition complements AutoCAD Electrical software, which is used to quickly create accurate schematic-based design. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of Autodesk's fiscal year.
ADSK is currently at $36.61, down $1.31 on a volume of 3.69 million shares.
