SXC Health Solutions Inc. (SXCI, SXC.TO) Monday announced that it has included data integration and clinical analytical tools to the portfolio of services rendered to the Employee Benefits Division of the State of Arkansas. The agreement is related to the original Pharmacy Benefit Management contract of 2004 with Employee Benefits Division that includes about 79,500 state and public school employees.
Under the terms of the deal, EBD would license Integrail's Pathfinder PRO software, providing Arkansas direct access to integrated medical and pharmacy claims data and risk prediction information. Integrail is a division of informedRx-SXC's Pharmacy Benefit Management arm.
Lisle, Illinois-based SXC Health Solutions indicated the Pathfinder PRO as a software application that enables users to understand the impact of healthcare resource allocation and medical decision-making through the incorporation of risk prediction and episode profiling technologies.
The application also provides variations in resource utilization and quality of care, as well as a standardized library of reports with ad hoc query capabilities for easy access to information.
Employee Benefits Division plans to utilize the software in its efforts to improve the health of Arkansas residents, based on initiatives under a health program in 2004, getting residents of the state to exercise more, watch their weight and quit smoking. EBD has encouraged State and Public School Employees to participate in the process with various incentives and programs targeted to promote healthy behaviors.
Sharon Dickerson, Executive Director said, "Our health and pharmacy costs are about $500 million annually and this is an ideal way to help manage our program costs. It is a fantastic tool!"
SXCI is currently trading at $15.13, up $0.16 or 1.07%, on a volume of 4,700 shares.
