Monday, Taseko Mines Ltd. (TGB) said it appointed Peter Mitchell as its new CFO, effective September 15, 2008. Taseko Mines initiated a CFO search in the month of July when the prior CFO Jeffrey Mason resigned effective July 1, 2008.
Mitchell has been extensively involved in leading and managing growth in private equity portfolio companies through acquisitions, integrations and greenfield initiatives as well as related financing activities. Recently, Mitchell held leadership roles in the for-profit education sector as President of Florida Career College based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was previously the CEO of Vatterott Education Centers, Inc. in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Earlier in his career, Mitchell served as the Senior Vice President and CFO of Crown Packaging Ltd., as well as Vice Chairman and CFO of Von Hoffmann Corp. of Saint Louis, Missouri.
Taseko Mines is currently trading at $1.17, down $0.32 or 21.31% on the AMEX.
