Iraqi deputy oil minister Saheb Salman Qutub escaped an attempt on his life with minor injures after a roadside bomb hit his convoy near his house in central Baghdad on Monday, said officials.
They said that the bomb attack took place near the minister's house in the Atefiyah neighborhood and added that one of his bodyguards was killed in the blast.
Separately, at least six civilians were killed and over 20 others injured when two bombs exploded in quick succession outside a police building in the Karrada district in eastern Baghdad.
Officials said ten police officers and two women were among those injured in the blast, and added that the explosions caused considerable damage to the buildings in the area.
