Two Pak Soldiers Killed In Grenade Attack

Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at a vehicle of the armed forces in Pakistan's troubled South Waziristan tribal region Thursday killing two soldiers and injuring five others, media reports said.

The security personnel on a military convoy were on a routine patrol in Machan Baba, some 9 miles from Wana, the main town in the semi-autonomous tribal area, at the time of the attack.

The injured personnel were rushed to a hospital in Wana with critical injuries. The area was sealed off soon after the blast and security forces launched a search to trace the attackers.

The Tribal Areas have been wracked by violence since hundreds of Taliban and Al-Qaida rebels sought refuge in the region after the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001.
