British power systems company Rolls-Royce Group Plc (RR.L) said Wednesday that it has received a $80 million worth contract from the U.S. Air Force to supply its AE 2100D3 spare engines and parts to power Lockheed Martin C-130J military transport aircraft of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, the Royal Norwegian Air Force and the Indian Air Force.
The company noted that it has a long-standing relationship with the U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps customers and they continue to express their confidence in Rolls-Royce's AE 2100D3 engine.
The C-130, powered by Rolls-Royce's T56 engines has been the primary tactical transport and special mission aircraft for the U.S. Air Force since 1956, the company said.
Dennis Jarvi, President Defense North America for Rolls-Royce said, "The C-130J has earned an international reputation as a valuable, multi-role transport aircraft and Rolls-Royce is committed to doing its part to ensure these aircrafts are ready to carry out critical missions whenever and wherever they are needed."
According to the company, the agreement, which is administered by the U.S. Air Force at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, U.S.A., comprises an initial delivery of 27 AE 2100D3 spare engines and parts through 2011.
Rolls-Royce said it has services agreements in place with all branches of the U.S. military, including the Air Force, Marines, Army, Navy as well as the Coast Guard.
RR.L is currently trading at 323.5 pence, down 2.25 pence or 0.69%, on a volume of 982 thousand shares.
