1995- Foo Fighters Debut Album Released

The Foo Fighters released their self-titled debut album on July 4, 1995.

The LP was the brainchild of former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, who created the disc following the suicide of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Grohl wrote all the songs on the album and played all the instruments, except for a guitar part on the track "X-Static," which was performed by Greg Dulli.

The record made a substantial splash following its release, helped by such hit tracks as "This Is A Call" and "Big Me."

The Foo Fighters would go on to become one of the top acts in rock, becoming more of a real band with their second album, 1997's "The Colour And The Shape." That disc would see Pat Smear and Nate Mendel become significant contributors, playing the guitar and bass, respectively, and sharing co-writing credits on most of the tracks with Grohl.
