Korn’s smash hit third studio album “Follow the Leader” was released on August 18, 1998. The album followed 1996’s nu-metal classic “Life is Peachy” and includes the single “Freak on a Leash.”“Follow the Leader” quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, hitting number one on September 5, 1998. They bumped Snoop Dogg’s “Da Game Is to Be Sold Not to Be Told” out of the top spot and held on for one week before handing it over to Lauryn Hill’s “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”The release helped bring the popular `90s genre to the forefront, paving the way for other acts like the Deftones and Limp Bizkit. While speaking with Billboard in 2008, band member Jonathan Davis said they looked after every detail on the album:“We spent more time on the album, almost a year, and went back and made sure everything is how we wanted it.”
