Singer/songwriter Fiona Apple was born on September 13, 1977. Though still active as a performer today, Apple had her heyday in the late 1990s with the release of her hit 1996 debut album, “Tidal.” The album, which touched on jazz, alternative rock and experimental music, peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and sold 2.7 million copies in the U.S. The album’s most famous track, “Criminal,” earned Apple a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 1998. The LP also featured tracks like "Sleep To Dream" and "Shadowboxer." Her sophomore album, which has a 90-word title, but is generally known as "When the Pawn...," came out in 1999. After a contentious recording process, her third album, "Extraordinary Machine" came out in 2005.
