Wilson Phillips hit number one on September 15, 1990, with their second single, “Release Me.”

The song appeared on the trio’s self-titled debut album. It would spend two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Wilson Phillips’ debut spawned two other number one singles – “Hold On” and “You’re In Love."

The LP would sell more than 10 million copies worldwide, making Wilson Phillips the best-selling female group of all time up to that point, surpassing Diana Ross and the Supremes.
