Adele Reaches Number One With 'Rolling In The Deep' Two Years Ago

1994 - All 4 One Hit #1 With 'I Swear'
1994 - All 4 One Hit #1 With 'I Swear'

All 4 One hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their hit single “I Swear” on May 21, 1994. The track was originally a hit single for country star John Michael Montgomery and was recorded by the R&B stars for their self-titled debut release.

When the track hit number one, All 4 One claimed the top spot from "Bump n' Grind" by R. Kelly. They held on in the top spot through June 30 of that year when "Stay (I Missed You)" by Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories hit the top of the chart.

The track was penned by Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers, who initially had trouble finding an artist to sing the number. They finally connected with Montgomery and his label Atlantic Records initially asked the country star to sing a pop version of the track. Fearful they might alienate his core audience, they instead enlisted their newest R&B act All 4 One to sing the track.
