Another group who was badly affected were the pensioners, most of whom are oblivious to digital banking services, and hence keep large amount of cash with themselves to meet expenses. Some unfortunate events also took place as the nation hoped to cleanse itself of 'black money' as some of those, especially elders, collapsed and died as they waited in queues at banks. Meanwhile, some people, especially farmers and small merchants, committed suicide as they feared their savings in cash were lost.
