In the fourth quarter, China's gross domestic product climbed 6.0 percent year-on-year, the same rate of growth as in the third quarter, largely led by the improvement in the industrial production.

The expansion rate was in line with economists' expectations. The 6 percent growth was the lowest in nearly three decades.

The economy grew 6.4 percent in the first quarter and 6.2 percent in the three months to June.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP grew 1.5 percent in the final three months of 2019.
