New Drugs Approved In April

COVID-19 pandemic has affected more than 200 countries around the world. As of this writing, more than 3.5 million people have been infected with the new coronavirus and nearly 250,000 deaths have been reported.

Several pharma companies around the globe are struggling either to find a treatment for Covid-19 or to discover a vaccine to protect from the new coronavirus.

On May 1, the FDA has granted emergency use authorization (EUA) to Gilead Science's investigational antiviral therapy remdesivir for the treatment of coronavirus disease.

Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted clinical trials of many pharma companies as they are not able to carry on with their patient enrollment routine during lock down. The regulator, however, is not delaying the approvals of drugs intended for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
