New York & Company Climbs In Pre-Market On Quarterly Results

New York & Company Inc. (NWY) is on the rise during pre-market trading on Friday following the release of quarterly results. At 9:12 am ET the stock is trading at $10.64 up $0.64 from Thursday's close.

With the advance, the stock stands to open at a level that challenges a 52-week high.

The company reported second quarter net income of $8.78 million, or $0.14 per share, compared to $3.5 million, or $0.06 per share, in the same period last year.

Net income from continuing operations for the quarter was $8.61 million, or $0.14 per share, versus prior year quarter's $5.04 million, or $0.08 per share.

Quarterly net sales were $295.7 million, compared to $285 million in the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the quarter decreased 2.2%, compared to a 4.9% increase in the prior year second quarter.

Analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial expected the company to report earnings for the quarter of $0.09 per share on $283.61 million sales.
