Monday, safety and security solutions provider Nice Systems Ltd. (NICE) announced a definitive deal to acquire Israel-based cellular location tracking technology provider Hexagon System Engineering Ltd. for about US$11 million. Nice Systems said the acquisition will have no material impact on its financial results for 2009 and 2010.
According to Nice Systems, Hexagon's cellular location tracking technology will enable law enforcement, internal security, and intelligence agencies fight crime and terror more effectively. Hexagon's technology that has been developed over a decade and successfully deployed globally enables high levels of cellular location accuracy at a fraction of the infrastructure deployment costs versus competitive alternatives.
Nice Systems said the deal strengthens its position in communications interception market by adding innovative technology for communications information analysis. The transaction is expected to close shortly.
Israel Livnat, president of Security Group, Nice Systems said, "The addition of this innovative and field proven technology will further strengthen our security business by enhancing our offering to government agencies, thus enhancing growth in the global homeland security market."
NICE closed Friday's regular trading session at $28.32.
