Neilgaiman 041811

HBO has reportedly signed on to develop an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2001 novel "American Gods." According to a new report from hollywoodreporter.com, the network may turn the adventure story into a new original mini-series.

The network is currently working with Tom Hanks and his partner Gary Goetzman at Playtone Productions for the possible series, which follows an ex-con named Shadow. The book landed Gaiman a high sought after Nebula Award, which honors the top sci-fi books every year.

In addition to the adaptation, Gaiman has also crossed over into Hollywood with his book "Coraline" and the screenplay for Robert Zemeckis' film "Beowulf." "American Gods" follows the battle between two sets of gods who are warring for power.
