Mobile Number Portability or MNP implementation has been postponed till 31st March 2010, said the government in a release. The government has decided to implement it in whole of the country at a same time unlike implementation in phases. Earlier, it was decided to implement MNP by January 1, 2010 in Metro and Category 'A' service areas.
Following meetings by the telecom department with the service providers, it was found that while some of the access and ILD service providers have technically upgraded and augmented their networks, some have established physical links with MNP operators and others are still in process. The service providers are given time frame by the telecom department for various activities.
