Prince has created a new song in support of the Minnesota Vikings, who will play for a chance to go to the Super Bowl this weekend.

The singer reportedly wrote "Purple and Gold" after being inspired by the Vikings' 34-3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The Minneapolis native is reportedly a life-long Vikings fan. The tune was released this week.

It's not the first football-related performance for the "Purple Rain" singer - he sang at halftime of Super Bowl XLI in Miami in 2007.

The Vikings play the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game at 6:40 PM ET on Sunday.
