Neil Diamond's "Sweet Carolina" has enjoyed a nearly 600% sales boost following the Boston Marathon bombing. The track is the team anthem for the Boston Red Sox and is played at every home game.

In a showing of solidarity with the people of Boston, fellow MLB clubs including the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers have begun playing the song at their games.

Diamond even appeared at Fenway Park after the Sox's first home game after the attack to lead fans in an emotional rendition of the track.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Diamond says that he's now writing a song for the victims of senseless violence:

"I'm writing now and obviously affected by this situation in Boston, so I'm writing about it just to express myself. It's like an infestation, and I'm writing about the general situation, not just about this bombing in Boston, but what we're going through with all of these tragedies - shootings and so on and so forth."
